Thanksgiving Recipes: Part 2

Mrs. Weston’s Dutch Apple Pie Recipe:

Preheat oven: 350 degrees 

Crust:

  • 140 grams brown sugar
  • 300 grams of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 200 grams of butter
  • 1 egg


Filling:

Peel and slice 2 pounds of apples.


Add all crust ingredients in a bowl and gently knead the dough.
Grease an 8 inch springform cake pan with butter.
Line the bottom of the cake pan as well as up the sides ( save some dough for the lattice ).
Place the apple slices snugly in the pie shell.
For the lattice, roll the remaining dough into thin strips and lay on top of the pie (any design).  Whip an egg white and brush the lattice with it.
Bake for 60-70 minutes or until the crust turns a rich golden brown.
